The City of Bath is seeking applicants for a Temporary Treasurer’s Account Clerk from mid-May until late August 2026.
This position is responsible for providing superior customer service to the public, managing accurate cash draw transactions, and maintaining state and municipal records. The position supports the Treasurer’s Office of the Finance Department and reports to the Finance Director.
The ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience that may include specialized coursework or certifications in banking, business, accounting, or finance; and has experience providing customer service or tracking financial transactions. In all areas, extreme accuracy and attention to detail is necessary.
This is a temporary 36-hour a week, non-union, FLSA non-exempt position. This position works Monday through Thursday 7:30am – 5:00pm. The pay range for this position is $19.15 - $22.00 per hour depending upon experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides timely and courteous customer service to the general public for all accounts receivable and landfill billing for the City, tax collections, parking tickets, etc.
• Processes registrations and collects excise tax for Motor Vehicle Department and Inland Fish and Wildlife.
• Processes incoming deposits from outside departments, making sure they are correct and posted to the correct account.
• Assures that cash drawers are balanced daily.
• Provides general clerical duties such as filing, answering phones, general correspondence, clarifying accounts receivable items.
• Assists in the preparation of periodic reports to Finance department
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Graduation from high school or equivalent education,
• Coursework or certificate completion in Accounting, Banking, Finance, or Business Management,
• Experience with customer service, processing financial transactions, or using finance management software is desirable; or
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of office procedures and financial accounting for public organizations; some knowledge of bookkeeping.
• Ability to accurately account for funds and input data correctly.
• Ability to follow directions and communicate effectively
• Ability to provide friendly, helpful customer service, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, officials, and the public.
