Register a Vehicle

In Maine, all vehicles driven on public roads must be registered through the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV). Before registering, you’ll need to pay your excise tax, provide proof of insurance, and complete a registration or title application. Registration must be completed within 30 days of moving to Maine or purchasing a vehicle.

You can register most vehicles including cars, trucks, trailers, boats, and motorcycles via the Treasurers Office or online.
