The Economic and Community Development Office is responsible for research, application and administration of a majority of the City's grants and serves under the City Manager.

Duties include:

  • Improve the City through community involvement and investments in affordable housing, neighborhood renewal, public infrastructure and facilities, and downtown revitalization.
  • Assist with securing economic development opportunities through the management of City owned and managed properties.
  • Manage nearly $1 million in Brownfields Revolving Loan Funds that have been awarded to the City by the United States Environmental Protection Agency for the assessment and clean up of  Brownfields sites.

Tax Increment Financing (TIF) is a tool communities can use to support economic and community development. A TIF district allows a municipality to capture a portion of the new taxable value created within a defined area and use those funds for eligible public purposes.
