The City Clerk’s Office serves as the official record keeper for the City of Bath, ensuring transparent and accessible local government. The office manages City Council records, elections, licenses and permits, public notices, vital records, and official City documents. The Clerk also supports boards and committees, maintains the City Charter and ordinances, and provides public access to municipal records in accordance with state law.

Darci Wheeler was appointed City Clerk by the City Council and took the Oath of Office on January 8, 2020. She is a member of the Maine Town and City Clerks Association (MTCCA), the New England Association of City and Town Clerks (NEACTC), and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC). She earned her Certified Clerk of Maine (CCM) certificate in 2022 and her Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) designation from IIMC in 2024. She is joined by Christopher Taylor, Deputy City Clerk, and Amanda Yenco, Assistant City Clerk and General Assistance Administrator.

Absentee Voting

  • Request Online (Current registered voters only)
  • Request in person at the City Clerk's Office, 55 Front Street, or by phone at 207-443-8332. 

In-Person Voting

  •  Early in-person voting at City Hall ends on Thursday, October 30.
  • All Bath Voters who do not vote absentee or early will vote at Bath Middle School on Tuesday, November 4. The polls will be open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM

 

General Assistance is a local support program that helps Bath residents meet basic needs during a financial emergency. Assistance may include help paying for food, rent, heating, utilities, or medications for those who qualify.

How to Apply

Schedule an appointment with General Assistance:

The General Assistance Office is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
After you apply, the administrator will review your request and provide a written decision within 24 hours.

The City of Bath administers a General Assistance Program for people in need. The Maine Department of Health and Human Services is available to answer any questions you may have. Call their toll-free number at 1-800-442-6003. This telephone is answered Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. This notice is posted pursuant to Title 22 MRSA section 4304-4305.
