The City of Bath has a strong record and long-standing commitment to sustainability. The Office of Sustainability and Environment was created in 2022 to integrate sustainable practices into municipal operations, infrastructure, services and policies. The Office of Sustainability and Environment is responsible for incorporating City Council’s Strategic Goals and City Resolutions pertaining to sustainability within the City.

To accomplish these goals the Office works with the Climate Action Commission (and other aligned municipal committees), Municipal Departments and Staff.

Bath is preparing for the long-term impacts of climate change by strengthening infrastructure, protecting natural resources, and planning for future conditions. Our resiliency work focuses on coastal flooding, stormwater management, heat preparedness, and community safety.

The Climate Action Commission advises the City on policies and projects that reduce emissions, expand renewable energy, and support community-wide climate action. The Commission works closely with residents, partners, and City staff to advance Bath’s climate goals.

Bath supports a range of programs that help residents and businesses live more sustainably. From energy efficiency resources to recycling programs, forestry efforts, and community education, these initiatives promote long-term environmental health and resilience.
