Parking Ban Friday, December 4, 2025 from 1:00 AM to 6:00 AM

Vehicles need to be parked off the street to allow public works plow crews room to work. Alternate parking is available overnight at the municipal lot on the east side of Water St, the south end boat launch parking lot on Washington St, the baseball field parking lot off Sheridan Rd, and the tennis courts parking lot at McMann Field complex off Congress Ave.

The Planning & Development Department helps shape Bath’s future by guiding how land is used and developed. The team supports residents, property owners, and developers through the Planning Board process and ensures that projects reflect community goals. Staff gather and analyze local data to help the City make informed decisions that keep Bath vibrant, sustainable, and welcoming. Together with the City’s Sustainability & Environment, Economic & Community Development, and Code Enforcement divisions, the department works to balance growth, services, and environmental stewardship.

Plans, Reports & Studies

The Planning & Development Department leads the creation of citywide plans, reports, and studies that guide Bath’s growth and long-term vision. The department’s primary framework is the 2023 Comprehensive Plan, built around four big ideas: Keep Bath welcoming, diverse, and livable; Support Downtown Bath as a destination; Reinvest in legacy assets; and Make Bath climate resilient. These principles help ensure that Bath continues to thrive as a connected, sustainable community.

Planning Board Review

The Planning Board reviews development projects to ensure they meet Bath’s Land Use Code and community goals.
