Maine and Federal laws protect some types of leave for eligible employees. In addition to other types of paid and unpaid leave, the City of Bath provides leave under the Maine Paid Family Medical Leave Law (PFML), Federal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Maine Family Medical Leave Act (MEFMLA), and Maine Earned Paid Leave Act (MEPLA).
Family and Medical Leave is a legal right for eligible employees and involves rights and responsibilities for both the employee and the employer. Qualified reasons for leave, individual eligibility, benefits, rights, and responsibilities differ under each type of leave.
