Social Media Policy
1. Users and visitors to the City of Bath’s electronic media accounts shall be notified that the intended
purpose of the account is to serve as a mechanism for broadcasting information from the City
and/or its departments to members of the public. For more information about the City of Bath’s government please visit cityofbath.com. All content created or posted on the City of Bath’s Facebook page belongs to the city and is considered a public record.
2. As a limited public forum, the City of Bath’s website and electronic media accounts and its
departments have the discretion to limit access to and the use of electronic media by members
of the public. The City of Bath may restrict users from posting comments, images, or links to
other sites and may remove any posts or comments violating this policy. Examples
of violations of this policy include (but are not limited to):
a. Profane language or content
b. Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, color, ancestry, national origin, sex, sexual orientation (including gender identity and gender expression), physical or mental disabilities, religion, age, or genetic predisposition
c. Sexual content including sexual references or links to sexual content.
d. Solicitations of commerce
e. Illegal Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity
f. Information that could compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems or specific individuals
g. Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party or
h. Comments not topically related to the particular social media article being commented upon, including random or unintelligible comments
