Feasibility Studies

Sidewalk along High Street/Route 209 from Getchell Street to Winnegance.

The City of Bath, with funding from the Maine Department of Transportation, conducted a feasibility study of constructing a new sidewalk along High Street/Route 209 from Getchell Street to Winnegance.  A new sidewalk would be a continuation of the existing sidewalk on High St and create connectivity to other nearby sidewalks.  The study has several goals:

• Identify and quantify the obstacles
• Present options on which side of High Street would be better based on several values
• Identify the need for crossings and evaluate the safety of those crossings
• Identify the impacts to abutting properties
• Identify accessory infrastructure necessary to properly construct a sidewalk (storm drains, curbs, retaining walls, etc.)

At this time there is no plan or funding to produce a fully engineered design or bring the project to construction.  The decision to proceed with the project will be informed by the public comments received at the meeting.
