TIF Districts

A Tax Increment Financing Development District (TIF) involves creation of a geographically defined district in the City and the "capture" or reinvestment of some of the new increased or "incremental" tax revenues generated by new development and business expansion in the District to pay certain costs of development and certain costs of new public facilities, improvements and programs.

The City of Bath has five TIF Districts:

  1. Bath Iron Works TIF District
  2. Downtown TIF District
  3. Wing Farm TIF District
  4. Huse School AHTIF District
  5. Uptown AHTIF District

As of February, 2022, the City of Bath is also entertaining a proposed Downtown TIF amendment and credit enhancement agreement at 31 Centre Street. To learn more about this project, click here.
